Bhubaneswar is one the best planned and clean city in the east coast of India . The city is worth visiting in terms of historical monoments, temples and parks, etc. Bhubaneswar is also known as Temple City. Here are some glimps..

1. Dhauli Giri (Shanti Stupa)

It is a historical monoment and an important Buddist centre build in remembrance to Kalinga War. It was the last war fought by the great Ashoka with the king of Kalinga. This Kalinga war was fought at Dhauli near the Daya river. The Daya river is said to have turned red with the blood of the many deceased after the battle, and enabled Ashoka to realize the magnitude of horror associated with war. The Rock Edicts found here include Nos. I-X, XIV and two separate Kalinga Edicts. In Kalinga Edict VI, he expresses his concern for the "welfare of the whole world"

4. Lingaraj Temple

The Lingaraja temple is the largest temple in Bhubaneswar and devoted to lord Shiva. The central tower of the temple is 180 ft (55 m) tall. The temple represents the quintessence of the Kalinga Architecture and culminating the medieval stages of the architectural tradition at Bhubaneswar.
